C. J. Hooker names October Students of the Month

Principal William Rolon and Assistant Principal Heather Carman are proud to announce the October Students of the Month.

The student of the month is:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

Lindsay Keane is an exceptional role model to others. She is very responsible, polite, and kind to others. She is a hard worker, and devotes her time to do well in all subject areas. Lindsay comes to class every day with a smile and a positive attitude!

Caitlin Donoghue is a hard working, conscientious young lady who always strives to do her best. She is courteous and respectful in the classroom and out. Caitlin often has a ready smile and a kind word for those around her. She is a pleasure to have as a student and a classmate.

Emily Svede is a very thoughtful and sincere student. She treats other students with kindness and respect. She has an excellent work ethic and puts forth the effort needed to succeed. Her kindness towards others and work ethic in class make her a true super star!

Isabella Conklin is a genuine and thoughtful student who has done an excellent job showing her compassion amongst her peers when needed. She is a hard worker who demonstrates a great amount of focus and drive in her studies. Isabella has done a wonderful job transitioning to the 6th grade and continues to work toward achieving excellence in her academic career.

Special Areas: Alex Bautista Leon has completely turned around and is doing a great job! He goes out of his way to help even when he’s not asked.

Grade 7

Jason Orzell is a conscientious and respectful student who is dedicated to success. He is a compassionate student who is always willing to help others and who maintains a positive attitude in school. He is honest, respectful, humble and kind. Congratulations, Jay!

A.J. Memmelaar is a student who always shows strong character. He is hard-working, responsible, and his commitment to academic success is evident to both teachers and peers. AJ’s kindness, maturity and positivity make him a great role model for others. Congratulations, A.J.!

Daniel Bassani is an outstanding student who exemplifies focus and determination in the classroom environment. He has done a wonderful job modeling good behavior and encouraging his peers to adopt positive characteristics in the classroom. Daniel has made great strides over time and continues to progress in his academic career.

Special Areas: Marcella Barnhorst is a very talented artist who takes her time and gives great attention to detail. Outside of school Marcella attended a painting competition on one weekend in October and created some excellent art with her sister and mother. Marcella’s efforts in art both in class and out of class shows in her drawings and paintings.

Grade 8

Zemedkun Rodriguez is committed to excellence. He is respectful and always appropriate. He knows how to balance fun with friends while being cooperative with adults and is a role model for his peers. He is a meticulous and curious student who always strives to be his best. He is encouraging of others and a terrific addition to all of his classes.

Kevin Palma is a hard-working student who is committed to academic success. He conducts himself admirably, always setting a positive example through his respectful treatment of others, his embracing of responsibility, and the honest way he interacts with others. He is very deserving of the honor of student of the month.

Owen Michelstein is a polite and friendly student who truly enjoys learning and making others smile. He always has a positive attitude and a funny joke to tell his teachers and peers. Owen is also a hard working student, and takes pride in getting good grades.

Special Areas: Katie Crandall is always eager to help out in class and often asks “is there anything you need help with?” She’s an extremely talented artist and is always willing to put in extra effort. This month she attended a painting competition on a weekend and won 3rd place. Outside of school she also paints pictures of Monarch butterflies and sells them to raise money to buy milkweed seeds to help feed and protect the threatened butterflies.
