Shannon Doherty, Elizabeth Pehush named Student-Athletes of the Week

This week’s Goshen Gladiator Student-Athletes of the Week are Varsity Swim Captains Shannon Doherty and Elizabeth Pehush.

Shannon has been an incredible leader for the Varsity Swim program. She is one of two Captains and is always encouraging her teammates. Shannon works hard at practice daily and it shows in her swimming. Her best events are the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. She has accomplished best times in all her events this season.

Shannon just began competitive swimming last year on our Goshen Swim Team. She plays alto saxophone for the Goshen band and was recently recognized as part of the Hudson Valley Honors Symphonic Band. Shannon is also a member of the National Honors Society and World Language Honor Society. She plans on continuing her education in college and majoring in either History or Political Science.

Elizabeth is an outstanding student, leader and swimmer for the Lady Gladiators. As Captain, she has been a huge component in building team

bonds and strength within our swimming program. Liz is constantly striving for excellence, which is shown in her swimming. She swims the 100 and 500 yard freestyle, as well as the 100 backstroke. Elizabeth has achieved best times in all her events this season.

Last year, Elizabeth was a Triple “G” winner, competing in three Varsity sports. She throws the discus and shot put for the track and field team. She has qualified for sections in those events the previous three years. Elizabeth is a member of Chamber Orchestra, Varsity Choir, Jazz Voices, and Symphonic Band. She also made the Area All-State Women’s Choir. Elizabeth plans on continuing her education in college next year, majoring in Biology and Music.
