GHS student named semifinalist in National Merit Scholarship Program

Goshen High School senior Nina Pasquini has been named a semifinalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The nationwide pool of semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. The number of semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

From the approximately 16,000 semifinalists, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the finalist level and will be notified in February 2017 of this designation. To become a finalist, Nina and Goshen High School must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes information about her academic record, participation in high school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received.

Congratulations, Nina, and best of luck!
