Eighth
grade student
makes
sacrifice to help others
This time of year,
it’s easy for people – especially children and teens
– to get caught up in the materialistic side of the
holiday season. However, not everyone loses the
spirit of giving.
Jackie Krauss, an eighth grade student at the C. J.
Hooker Middle School, recognizes that there are many
people in her community, including some of her
classmates and friends, who are struggling
financially.

Advanced art students
draw
the middle school cupola
The students in
Miss Ochs' advanced art class were inspired to draw
the middle school cupola. Thanks to the beautiful
fall weather, the students were able to create their
artwork while closely observing the cupola in
person.
Viewing the cupola
each school day enabled the art students to capture
a strong likeness of the structure and create their
own backgrounds to enhance their drawing.
The advanced
artists are Sarah Krasinski, Nadya Dimitrova, Emily
Swanson, Olivia Mongilia, Sarah Walker, Kate Skyer,
Alexandria Plocharczyk, Julia Obregon, Sarah
Robinson, Jimmy Hawkins, Raquel Phillips and Rachel
Tomapat.

Librarian Kathryn Loughran hosted "Twilight
Jeopardy" on November 14. |
This past weekend,
the highly anticipated teen vampire movie,
"Twilight," based on the popular book by author
Stephenie Meyer, hit the big screen.
In anticipation of
the film's release, C. J. Hooker Middle School
students participated in "Twilight Jeopardy" on
November 14 in the library.
Middle School
Librarian Kathryn Loughran created a large game
board with four categories based on the characters
of Bella, Edward and Jacob, and the town of Forks,
where the film takes place. Groups were divided into
two teams and answered questions in a manner that
mirrored the game show Jeopardy.

December menus
provide nutritious meals
that
fuel learning
Children’s
nutrition is no small issue and the Food Services
Department provides nutritious and appealing meals
for both breakfast and lunch. In fact, school
lunches provide one-third of the recommended dietary
intake for calories, protein and vitamins A and C,
iron and calcium. On average, a meal contains less
than 30 percent of calories from fat and less than
10 percent from saturated fat.
Your child can
choose from a variety of items, including milk,
juice, cereal and French toast sticks for breakfast;
and pizza, tacos, baked ziti and assorted sandwiches
for lunch.
