June 11, 2010 – The Goshen Intermediate School Odyssey of the Mind team placed eleventh out of 73 teams at the World Final competition at the University of Michigan over Memorial Day weekend.

The team competed in against teams from all over the United States and from as far away as Japan, South Korea, Germany, Russia and China. There were a total of 818 teams competing in the five Odyssey of the Mind problems.

The eleventh place finish ends the impressive run by this team of fifth grade students. Their journey began in February with a first place win at Regionals and continued in March with a second place finish at States.The team, already looking forward to next year, consists of Samantha Andryshak, Ally Bassani, Mackenzie Kurek, Kate Laskoski, Darcy McDowell, Hunter Mullane and Hannah Welshoff.

Patrick Pretzel (Kate Laskoski) and Andy Apple (Darcy McDowell) are running for Pharoah of the Food Pyramid. Katie Carrot (Mackenzie Kurek) is reporting the breaking news of this exciting election. Patrick and his evil side-kick Mac and Cheese (Ally Bassani) aren't playing fair. They push Andy into Caramel (Hunter Mullane), making Andy unhealthy and sending him to the top of the food pyramid.

Andy meets a chocolate covered strawberry, S-Berry (Samantha Andryshak) and they plan a way to prove themselves healthy and innocent in the "Court of Milk." The jury of pizza puppets (Hannah Welshoff) finds Andy Apple innocent, and he becomes the new Pharoah of the Food Pyramid.
