Scotchtown Avenue students
earn
third place awards at
OVA
competition
(Back)
On April 1, 20 students from Scotchtown Avenue
Elementary School traveled to Saratoga to compete in
the Olympics of the Visual Arts, an event sponsored
by the New York Art Teachers Association. This is
the first time that SAS students attended the event
with their peers from the C. J. Hooker Middle School
and Goshen High School.
Five groups of
second grade students competed with students from
several other school districts in grades 2-6. Our
students presented wonderfully creative art projects
in five different categories: drawing, painting,
sculpture, furniture design and illustration.
All of our
students’ efforts were remarkable with two groups
proudly earning third place awards in the painting
and illustration categories.
