Read
the May letter from
Principal Mary Ann Knight
The beautiful days
of May are perfect to provide opportunities for
healthy physical exercise for our students. Of
course ,vigorous physical activity is underway in
our P.E. classes every day under the direction of
our teachers, Mr. Rodriquez and Mrs. Magid. On the
playground at recess, our Walker’s Club members have
already walked hundreds of miles that are being
logged by our PTO volunteers. In our school store,
the most popular items this year have been the
clip-on pedometers!

GIS
students take virtual dog sledding trip
On March 3, third grade students in Mrs. Besaw’s
class toured an Alaskan igloo, howled with sled dogs
and raced on a dogsled – without ever leaving the
classroom.
Through videoconferencing, the students talked with
Alaskan mushers, or dog sled racers, about the
famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Commonly
referred to as “Iditarod,” the annual race begins
the first Saturday in March and mushers and their
dog teams cover 1,049 miles in eight to fifteen
days.

Sign up to be a
Walking Club Parent Volunteer
The Goshen Intermediate School Walking Club was
created with the goal of helping kids get active - while having fun! Students in
grades 3-5 meet three days a week during recess periods to walk together,
pedometers in hand, around the walking track which surrounds the perimeter of
the playground. It's a great way for our students to enjoy some fresh air and
get their bodies moving!
Parent volunteers are needed to supervise the
students as they walk their way to better health. If you would like to
volunteer, please fill out the
Parent Volunteer Sign-Up Form. A link has also been provided on the left
navigation rail. |
