My Family
by Devon
"Let's go to the beach!"
"No I want to go across the street!"
"You just did!"
"I'm the oldest so I say let's take a ride on the boat."
"No way!"
"Be quiet!!!" That's my grandma. She's breaking us up. sometimes my cousins and I disagree but rarely. You see I have a very large family, well you'd probably expect it because my grandma comes from a family of 9 kids. All of those nine kids grew up and had kids and their kids had kids! I love when we have family weddings because everyone is there! We all dance and have a great time.
I have many second cousins and less first. I am much closer to my first cousins than I am to my second cousins. My first cousins live in Montgomery, Newburgh, Albany and New York City. They all live pretty close so I see them enough.
Every Easter my family and I will go to someone's house to make Columba. Columba, or Easter pie, became a family tradition when my great-great-grandma got the recipe from Italy. Columba takes about 10 people to make. It takes about two days to complete. We make it the day before Easter, let it cook overnight, then eat it on Easter morning. Some things in columba are whole eggs and spicy sausage. I also like decorating the pie's top. We can make any design we want like braids and pretzel twists. When Columba is cooking it smells so good. The small seems to haunt us. When it is done, it looks very pretty but then we eat it.
As you can see my family is unique to me. I love them and all of our memories.
