II Course Description

Semester – ½ credit
This is the second of two required Health courses at
Goshen High School, offered during sophomore, junior
or senior year. In this twenty-week course, students
will learn about and discuss the many challenges
they will encounter concerning their relationships,
their bodies, and their minds. Topics include:
parenting responsibilities and goals; the hardships
and realities of teen parenting; sexual health
(hygiene, male and female reproductive systems,
disease prevention, birth control methods, sexually
transmitted infections/diseases, pregnancy and
prenatal care, childbirth); infant safety and child
abuse prevention; mental health issues (depression,
suicide, eating disorders, and self-esteem);
nutrition and healthful eating. Students will learn
to apply knowledge and skills to their own lives
through interactive activities, guest speakers, and
open-class discussion.
