UPDATED TRIP INFORMATION:

[Check back here during the trip for updated information.]

4/17/08 (11:45PM)

Bonsoir!  Though we got off to a rough start due to some unforseen transportation issues, we finally arrived in Montreal just in time for dinner.  We ate dinner at La Casa Greca, a beautiful restaurant on Prince Arthur Street.  We took a brief tour through a charming park in the historic area of Old Montreal on the way to the restaurant.  After dinner we headed back to the hotel, checked in and prepared for a well deserved night's rest. Tomorrow, we'll have a day packed full of great activities to make up for the events missed on day one.  If anyone has any questions, please e-mail.

4/18/08 (11:00PM)

We had an awesome, fun-filled day!  The weather was sunny in the 70's.  We started off the day at the Hard Rock cafe, where, after eating, students enjoyed some dancing.  After breakfast, we headed on a guided tour of Old Montreal and Plateau Mont Royal.  We then headed to the Bascilica of Notre Dame.  The interior of the building was amazing!  We had lunch in a trendy area of Montreal, followed by a trip to the Biodome and the world's largest inclined tower.  The views from the top were outstanding.  Next, we headed for dinner at l'Academie.  I have never seen such fast and efficient service.  The food was excellent as well.  After dinner was the ghost tour, where students went on a mission to find the ghosts of Old Montreal and listen to their scary stories.  Finally, we finished off the day with a surprise.  Jumpstreet Tours provided us with complimentary ice cream from a cremerie right on the waterfront St. Lawrence River.  We managed to make it back to the hotel in time for a quick dip in the pool before bed.  We had a very busy day and were able to fit in all of the activities on the itinerary.

4/19/08:

On Saturday, after breakfast we'll head over to the bowling alley and afterwards, we'll go to the Underground City for a tour and some shopping.  After lunch, we'll check out and head home.  We are still scheduled to make it home between 10 and 11PM.  (Depending on the border and traffic, it may be later.   Please stand by and you'll be updated via cellphones.)

4/19/08
(7:30PM)

We are on schedule to be home between 10:00 pm - 10:45 pm tonight.  We will be enjoying the restful ride home!

This trip could not have been pulled off without the help of many people.   Our travel company (Jumpstreet Tours) really stepped up to the plate and basically scrapped the original itinerary.  They were able to rearrange and reschedule EVERYTHING from the original itinerary with little or no notice.  They even threw in a few extras.  The teacher and parent chaperones were amazing!  I could not have maintained my sanity without you. The students were excellent!  Thank you all for all your hard work and participation to make this trip a success!

It’s not often in one’s life that such a valuable educational experience presents itself.  Join us as we explore the beauty and culture of the historic city of Montreal.  This trip will offer the students an opportunity to use the language that they have been studying.  It’s like being in Europe without crossing the Atlantic!

Tour Features Include:

Transportation to and from Montreal via deluxe, climate-controlled and restroom-equipped motor coaches.

Two night’s accommodations [4 students per room] at the Hôtel Auberge Universel in Montreal.   Deluxe guest rooms include two large double beds, private bath and shower, color television, table and chairs, and vanity area.  Our hotel also features outdoor and indoor heated pools.

Meals include 2 dinners, both at French restaurants in beautiful downtown Montreal.  Also included are 2 breakfasts —an American breakfast on Friday at the hotel and a “tropical” breakfast Saturday at the Hard Rock Café.

Historic Tours

Montreal's charm lies in its old-world atmosphere.  We will explore the old world atmosphere with our experienced tour guide.  Some of the destinations include the Notre Dame Basilica, La Place Jacques-Cartier, and Mont-Royal.  We will also enjoy a “haunted” ghost tour of Ville Marie, where we’ll meet the ghosts of La Nouvelle France.

Montreal’s Underground City

The “Underground” is a vast network of underground walkways with over 1700 boutiques and businesses.  A newer section includes a focus on arts and culture with display windows and alcoves that present items from Montreal’s museums.

Montreal’s Biodome

Awaken your senses as you visit the Americas!  With your eyes, your ears and your nose… Located in the vélodrome, which housed the cycling events for the 1976 Olympics, the Biodôme is a unique museum of the environment. Live collections with more than 4800 animals of 230 species and 750 plants species in four eco-systems from the Americas, each with a different climate … all under one roof!
