Letter to
Parents/Guardians
Dear Parent/ Guardian:
The purpose of this letter is to give you
important information about our 8th grade foreign language
program.
All 8th grade French and Spanish students
must take a test called the NYS Second Language Proficiency
Exam, Passing this exam gives the student one high
school credit in foreign language study and meets the basic
requirement for graduation. However, if a student
fails the exam, she/he must repeat the course in high school
and earn a passing final grade.
In short, in order to graduate from high
school in New York State, students must either pass the NYS
Second Language Exam in 8th grade, or pass a foreign
language class at a high school.
If you have any questions, please feel
free to call 294-2470 and ask to speak with Mrs. Vigna or
Mrs. Chapman
Sincerely,
Mrs. Vigna & Mrs. Chapman
