Course Outline/Overview

Course Overview: Seventh grade social studies is the first half of a two-year course of study in American History.  During the course of the school year, we will trace the human experience chronologically from pre-Columbian times to the period of the American Civil War.  Major ideas in American social, economic, and political life will be examined as we cover this historical period.

Materials: You will be expected to have the following materials:

  • One inch (or larger) binder with loose leaf paper

  • Blue or black pens

  • Pencils

  • Three highlighters (different colors)

  • Colored pencils or markers (required by most team teachers)

  • Index Cards

Grading and Assessment: You will be given a variety of ways to express what you have learned in social studies class.  Your average will be based on assignments such as:

  • Tests

  • Quizzes

  • Homework

  • Class Work

  • Projects

  • Reports

  • Class Participation

Class Expectations/Rules: 

  • Be on time.

  • Be prepared.

  • Be respectful of each other and school property.

  • Be ready to participate.

  • Complete all work as assigned and hand it in on the day it is due.

  • Always do your best!
