Dear Parents/Guardians,
ePals is the largest and fastest
growing K-12 online community for meaningful
learning. More than 132,000 classrooms, 350,000
teachers, and millions of learners across 200
countries and territories safely connect,
collaborate, and build a worldwide community. Exchanging
ideas and questions in a meaningful way with other
learners -- down the block or around the globe --
generates great excitement about learning and builds
21st century digital literacy and learning skills.
I have signed up for my account as a teacher, and I
will monitor each of my student’s e-mails. Students
can not e-mail other learners without my
authorization, which I feel is very important for
you, the parent/guardian, to be aware of. In other
words, your children will not receive or send any
e-mails without me reading them first. I feel it is
important for you to know that he students we will
be communicating with are English learners from
Spanish speaking countries, who are between 12 and
13 years old. Just as our students, these students
will not be able to send or receive e-mails without
their teachers reading and authorizing them first.
We will be corresponding once a month with the
students from other countries.
The main goal of this project is to encourage my
students to practice their Spanish and to meet
learners of their same age in Spanish Speaking
countries. This will give them the opportunity to
learn what it is like to live in other countries. I
strongly encourage you to visit
www.ePals.com so that you may become
familiar with this site. This is not a mandatory
activity for students.
