Dear Parents/Guardians,
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for fifth of
May) commemorates the Mexican Army’s defeat of
French forces on May 5, 1862, in the batalla
de Puebla (Battle of Puebla). Festivities
often include sport events, parades, mariachi music
and dancing, picnics featuring Mexican food, and
beauty contests.
We will celebrate el “Cinco de Mayo” by inviting a
Mexican guitarrista (guitarist) to play
popular Spanish music for us. In addition, we will
have a fiesta in class with some
Mexican dishes and helados (ice-cream).
The “Cinco de Mayo” party will be celebrated during
the first week in May. Thank you so much for your
support and enthusiasm.
