News & Notes - February
2010
(Back)
February 11,
2010 - Earlier this school year, the Board of
Education adopted its goals and objectives, which
will serve the district for the next three school
years through 2011-12. This was a collaborative
effort between the Board and district
administrators.
One of the Board goals is "to enhance school and
work climate for all through a supportive climate
for faculty, staff, administrators, parents,
community and students."
In an effort to gain mid-year feedback, the district
is asking the Goshen community to participate in a
short survey that asks your opinion about the
district's school climate. We want to know if you
think the district has a positive school climate or
negative school climate, as well as the reasons
behind your assessment.
The school climate survey is posted on the district
homepage at
www.goshenschoolsny.org. Results will be
collected and shared with the community. Please note
that the survey will only be posted until March 1,
so please take the time to fill it out as soon as
possible.
There are four separate surveys, all asking the same
questions, for four different categories.
Participants are asked to complete the survey that
falls into the category that best describes his or
her role in the Goshen community:
• Parent
• Student
• Faculty or Staff
• Community Member
If you fall into more than one category, please feel
free to fill out the surveys accordingly.
This is a quick and effective way to learn the
valuable opinions of the Goshen community and I
thank you in advance for your participation.
At the November 16, 2009 regular Board of Education
meeting, the board members agreed to the following
Philosophy and Vision Statement pertaining to the
development of the 2010-11 budget, e.g.: It was
stated by the board president, in light of two
months being devoted to goals, definable objectives,
timelines, and student achievement, it was agreed
that the budget process be goal driven.
