The Goshen Central School District was forced to close on March 13 due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions. Prior to this school cancellation, the district had used all of its six allotted snow days for the 2017-18 school year.
The district must now “take back” a scheduled vacation day, Friday, May 25 (Memorial Day weekend) so that students attend school 180 days, as required by law. Again, Friday, May 25 will now be a regular day of school for students.
If winter weather should continue and the district must use additional snow days, it will need to “take back” additional vacation days to ensure that students attend 180 days of school, as required by law.
The remaining “take back” days are, in order:
- Monday, April 2 (spring recess)
- Monday, March 26 (spring recess)
Any changes in the school calendar due to “take back” days will be communicated to parents and employees via the district website, SchoolMessenger and social media.
