At last night’s Board of Education meeting, Meryl Rubinstein was appointed as interim assistant superintendent for business. She will replace Robert Miller, who will retire April 1.
Rubinstein began her career as a teacher for the New York City Board of Education, from 1985 to 1996. She then held administrative positions at the Dobbs Ferry United Free School District, Peekskill City School District and Haldane Central School District, from 1996-2007.
Rubinstein retired from the Mamaroneck Union Free School District in September 2017, after serving as assistant superintendent for business operations for more than 10 years. Since her retirement, she briefly served as interim assistant superintendent for business at the Bedford Central School District while the assistant superintendent was on medical leave.
Rubinstein will serve as interim until a permanent replacement is found. The district plans to appoint a permanent assistant superintendent for business within the next few months, with an anticipated start date of July 1. More information will be shared with the community as it becomes available.
At the regular board meeting held, March 5, 2018, on a motion by Jason Pucci and seconded by Thomas Mullane the Board hereby authorizes its President to execute an employment agreement with Meryl Rubinstein to serve on a contractual, non-tenure bearing basis, as the Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business pursuant to the provisions of an agreement dated March 5, 2018 as presented to the board at this meeting (A copy of said Agreement shall be incorporated by reference within the minutes of this meeting.).
Ms. Rubinstein’s employment is effective March 19, 2018 through June 30, 2018, at a salary of $1,000 per diem, with the addition of $300 per evening meeting scheduled after 6:00 p.m. Under Section 211 of Retirement and Social Security Law and Section 88-5.5 of Commissioner Regulations, Ms. Rubinstein will have the right to receive her pension while employed with the district.
