Students in Carol Larca’s fifth grade class recently created homemade cards to help cheer up a local veteran.

Morgan Taylor, a student at the Goshen Intermediate School, and her mother, Lisa, shared their idea with Morgan’s teacher and classmates to create cards for local Army Veteran Charles Billings, who served in the Korean War. At 90 years old, Billings has no living family and was being honored at a ceremony at the Hudson Valley Honor Flight that took place on November 4.¬†Morgan’s grandfather, Joe Dembeck, is one of the organizers of the flight.

The class created beautiful cards for Mr. Billings, wishing him a Happy Veterans Day and thanking him for his service to our country. They wanted to show their appreciation to Mr. Billings and hoped to make his Veterans Day a little brighter!
